Inspections
Under-water inspections aim at gathering factual data. The effectiveness of the inspection depends on the methods used and the know-how of the diving inspector. Baars-CIPRO offers both. Below you will find an overview of our range of activities in the field of inspections at and below the water line. For more informotion, please download the matching company flyer. The professional divers employed by Baars-CIPRO are highly trained and have up to university level degrees in civil enginering or industrial and nautical engineering. Inspections consist of visual inspection performed by a diver inspector, digital photography and video recordings and underwater x, y and z position surveying.
Advice on (the foundations of) concrete and brickwork constructions is given after a visual
and (non-)destructive inspections. Concrete and brickwork survey options:
- General visual inspection.
- Capturing crack formation above and below water using digital video and/or photos.
- Indicative determination of the compressive strength.
- Taking and analysing core samples.
Baars-CIPRO’s under-water civil engineers give advice on the current state of constructions or its components, the residual strength, anticipated remaining lifespan and how this remaining lifespan can be extended. The inspections required for this advice include:
- Performing general visual inspections, inclination measurements, growth assessments and determinations of the presence of shipworms or gribbles.
- Performing penetration measurements using the ‘Pilodyn 6J’.
- Taking and analysing wood samples.
The combination of engineering and diving proves very effective for the inspection of steel constructions. Both the inspection and the civil engineering focus on the condition of the steel construction, the anticipated residual strength, remaining lifespan, and how to extend this remaining lifespan. The inspections typically cover:
- General visual inspections, assessment of the nature and extent of steel corrosion.
- Determination of the inclination of the sheet pile.
- Ultrasonic thickness measurements.
- Cavity detection.
Baars-CIPRO supports contractors, consultancy firms and administrators by performing and interpreting soil investigations. From our support vessel, the "Perca", we take soil quality measurements using own equipment. After having analysed the soil samples and processed the measurement results, Baars-CIPRO supports the client with a.o. soil classification and advice on processing of dredging material.
Schade-expertise
